Examination Questions for the Year Behind and the Year Ahead
To Start: For these next two weeks before we jump into a new series on February 16th, we invite your group to take inventory of this past Fall and dream about this year head. AND before you jump into these questions we want to invite you to start by reading the passage below:
Psalm 139:23-24
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting”
Discusion Questions:
Gratitude:
Where did gratitude come easy? Where was it difficult for you to be grateful?
For your group, what did the past year bring that you’re grateful for?
God’s Presence:
When did God feel near over this past year?
When did God feel distant or far-off over the last year?
Relationships:
What longings and hopes surface as you think about your relationships in this small group?
Scripture:
Were there any passages of Scripture that have been significant over this past year?
Future:
What is one word, Scripture, promise of God, etc., that you want to carry in this year ahead?
How do you want to be intentionally attentive to God’s presence in the coming year both individually and as small group?
To Close: End your time together praying Ephesians 1:16-20 as a way of thanking God for his presence in the past and his continued presence in the present and future.
“I do not cease to give thanks for you remembering you in my prayers. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of HIs glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe according to the working of His great might that He worked in Christ when He raised Him at His right hand in the heavenly places.”
