W&W Generosity (Part 3): What Can Happen If...?

TO START: Today, we continued our mini-series on the rhythm of generosity, exploring the role it plays in our discipleship to Jesus and how it trains our hearts to be receptive to God’s invitations.

This week, we explored how Scripture reveals that a posture of generosity brings freedom within us and creates freedom for others through us. Specifically looking at the reality that generosity allows God’s blessings to flow through us rather than stopping with us.

ICEBREAKER: What was one of the first things you remember receiving as a kid, or what is a possession now as an adult that you feel most unwilling to share?

TO READ (Part 1): Proverbs 11:24-28

TO DISCUSS:

(1.) Greed & Grumbling: Can you share a moment in your life when greed or the spirit of mammon (clinging to money/possessions) led you to discontentment or grumbling?

(2.)  Generosity to Gratitude: Can you share a moment when practicing generosity led to a deep sense of gratitude within you? How did giving change your perspective or heart?

TO READ (Part 2) : John 7:37-39

(3.) Is there a "dam" or blockage in your life (fear, insecurity, greed, or attachment, etc.) that you need the Lord to remove so His generosity can freely flow?

TO PRAY:

To close this week, consider praying in light of the closing question…  Go around the group and pray for open hearts and hands. Ask the Lord to break down any "dams" of fear or greed holding anyone back, and pray that He fills each person with His Spirit so that gratitude and living water may flow out to others this week.
