SERMON SERIES: ON THE ROAD TO BETTER
In case you haven't noticed, transformation is a journey. It’s not an Amazon package that gets delivered the day of our baptism; it’s a road we travel our whole lives. In this series, we'll take a look at a few themes that shape our experience on the road, exploring what God does--and doesn't do--as he leads us forward toward a better version of ourselves.
PART 1: PAGING DR. JEKYLL...
"Why aren't I better yet?" ...Ever wondered that? Most of us have. As we begin this series, we'll explore how our inner complexity and contradictions make our journey of transformation bumpy at times. We'll also take a look at three rules of the road that will help us keep traveling.
10/2/16 Speaker: Ryan Crowder
PART 2: SPRING STARTS IN WINTER
In the midst of life’s winters (disappointment, failure, etc), we need to understand that God is growing seeds that will lead us into a new season. When the road is tough, remember that it keeps going.
10/9/16 Speaker: Justin Gerhardt
PART 3: WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU'RE WRONG
Hate criticism? Lots of people do. But if you want to become better, that'll need to change. In this message, we look to a fascinating moment in David's life that shows us the benefit of receiving correction.
10/16/16 Speaker: Justin Gerhardt
PART 4: STAY CLOSE
If we really want to get better, we have to lean into the channels of connection and transformation that God has created for us. One of those--for David and for us--is worship. In this message, we'll see how worship can keep our relationship with God alive and allow Him to transform us in powerful ways
10/23/16 Speaker: Dan Burgess
PART 5: TRUTH & CONSEQUENCES
As we make mistakes along the Road to Better, God’s grace is always more than enough to wipe the slate clean. We will often, however, have to deal with consequences of our bad choices. That doesn’t mean God isn’t with us. If we’ll lean into our Father, his grace will be enough to help us handle those consequences.
10/30/16 Speaker: Justin Gerhardt
PART 6: REFINED
Got anything in your life you wish was better? Hard things that are causing real pain? If so, watch this message--we'll see how your suffering may be the key to some serious progress.
