Mission Trip to Lima, Peru

Each year Round Rock joins with people from several other churches for a week of living God’s love with the kids of the Communidad de Ninos Sagrada Familia through vacation Bible school-style activities.  This community, in the desert hills on the outskirts of Lima, Peru, provides a home and refuge for about 300 children, as well as a school for those kids and about 700 others from the surrounding pueblo.  This year, the trip is June 30-July 7 or 8.

Participation in this trip is a great way to be immersed in being the hands and feet of Jesus; and once you have experienced that, you will realize why you were made.  You don’t have to speak Spanish; there will be translators.  You don’t have to be a teacher; there are lots of things you can do to help including helping with crafts or just spending time with the kids.

All adults are welcome (high schoolers are welcome too, and somewhat-younger kids with a parent).  This is an easy lift as far as mission trips go: a comfortable hotel and good food (and nothing strenuous, unless you play futbol).  The participant cost is typically about $1500 (depends on cost of airfare) but support is available thanks to the Missions Benefit Dinner donations (we do not want cost to be an obstacle for anyone who desires to go).  We will also have an informational meeting in late January for those who are interested.
